Setting the system time on an application controller

This article outlines the restrictions involved with system time on an application controller

Within a zencontrol installation, all application controllers rely off of a secure connection to an NTP server. By default, all application controllers attempt to source the current time from ntp.buildinglogin.com

If there is no internet available at the site, there are 2 options that may be used to redirect an application controller to a different NTP server (Note: this assumes a local NTP server is present at the site)

1) Configuring option 42 on the DHCP server to provide a list of NTP servers that an application controller can use
2) Configuring a redirect in the DNS server to redirect ntp.buildinglogin.com to an alternative NTP server.

Application controllers will attempt to keep time syncronised between each other, but this does not prevent time drift. This feature is to assist with making sure that profile changes happen at the same time across controllers.

Note: For security reasons, there is no method of configuring time manually, either from an input unit or via the cloud interface.
