In this article, it will outline what is involved with creating a Clipsal Iconic or Clipsal Pro switch plate range that is ready to control a DALI installation.
The examples below will outline how to create a 1 gang switch for each option, for switch plates beyond this, reach out to your local Lumen Resources representative for further information.
Common Required Parts:
The parts listed below are required at a minimum:
- zc-switch-c – DALI-2 switch adapter for Clipsal 30/40 Slave Mech
- Converts a Clipsal 30/40 slave mech into a DALI-2 switch. Compatible with 5031NMS and 5041NMS slave mech switches. (Note: Clipsal 30/40 slave mech not included.)
- zc-psu-70 – 70mA DALI-2 Power Supply
- Suitable for one DALI line and DALI-2 compliant.
- zc-fm-kit – Field Mount Kit (Optional but recommended for safe installation)
- Used to secure a safe environment for 240V terminals on zencontrol field devices.
- 5041NMS – C-Bus Slave Module, 40 Series
Clipsal Iconic Solution
The parts below are required in conjunction with the common required parts above.
- 3041VH – Clipsal Iconic, 1 Gang plate, less mech
- 40APB – Iconic series Cap for Push Button
Clipsal Pro Solution
The parts below are required in conjunction with the common required parts above.
- P3041VH – Clipsal Pro, 1 Gang plate, less mech
- P40APB – Clipsal Pro series Cap for Push Button
Installation
- Replace the rocker button cap in the face plate of the switch with the push button cap.
- Install the 5041NMS into the switch plate
- Connect the 5041NMS into the socket of the zc-switch-c
- Configure the LED indicators on the zc-switch-c to the desired colour (Blue, Red, Purple)
- Connect the DALI terminals of the zc-switch-c to the zc-psu-70
- Connect assembled products to DALI line
- Connect a mains supply to the zc-psu-70
- Install zc-psu-70 into the zc-fm-kit
Once assembled and installed, the mains supply may now be energised. Please observe the following:
- From the factory, the zc-switch-c is configured as a DALI broadcast
- The zc-switch-c can be used in conjunction with DALI-2 installations as an IEC62386-301 switch input type
- The zc-switch-c consumes up to 12mA of the provided 70mA available from the zc-psu-70
- 1 or more switches may be used on the same DALI line to create 2 way or more switching, so long as there is sufficient DALI power available and DALI power does not exceed 250mA
- An additional power supply is not always needed to connect an additional switch, see previous dot point
- Each DALI light consumes roughly 2mA of DALI power
- On/Off and dimming capabilities are available by default
- No rotary dimming functionalities are available
