Wiring guidelines in accordance to IEC62386-101 for DALI wiring

When designing a DALI installation, there are a number of rules that must be followed when it comes to the physical wiring of the line. These rules are:

No more than 2VDC voltage drop between any 2 DALI devices connected to the same line
No more than 2VDC voltage drop between any DALI device and the connected DALI power supply
The wire used for the DALI line must be considered suitable for Low Voltage installations

In addition to this, the following guidelines should also be followed

The maximum distance that any DALI device should be from a power supply should not exceed 300 metres
The maximum distance that should be between any DALI device should not exceed 300 metres

With this information at hand, the chart below outlines the cable size recommendations.
