Within zencontrol, a profile is used to create functionality within an application controller that is determined by the time of day.
Profile configuration is stored on both the cloud and on the application controller, meaning that profiles can be adjusted to suit the requirements of the installation without physical intervention on the field devices such as ECDs.
An example of profiles that might be used on a project may be a “Business Hours/After Hours” combination. This requires creating two profiles, one called business hours, and one called after hours. These profiles are then assigned to the controllers of your choice.
Profile start times can be configured to start at a specific time, or at dynamic times in the day such as sunrise and sunset. Additionally, a time offset can be applied to these start times to create situations such as “30 minutes before sunrise” or “10 minutes after sunset”
This allows for advanced functionality within the controllers where the behaviour of an ECD can now be modified depending on the time of day.
An example of this might be to configure sensors in open areas to act as presence detector during business hours, but after hours, work as an absence detector.
Up to 3 profiles can be assigned to an application controller, allowing for a wide range of flexibility.
